The theme is Freedom of thought for humans. To think for themselves and that's why Montag stole the books. The government didnt want them to read books because they didn't want them to get the knowledge. They were scared that they were going to be to powerful for them to handle.

The theme is freedom of thought of humanity , mostly because Montag & Faber themselves are trying to find freedom somehow and some type of way , but being Faber and Montag themselves are turning into the MOST hated in " their " world . So they're ( mostly Montag? facing a situation where they're begginnig to wonder how they started wondering , and questioning themselves on " do they go along with evryone else "? or " do they take it upon themselves and go for what they believe in"?

I think the main idea of this whole quote is based on the book that Montag brought over to Faber's house , which was a bible. Also , i think what Faber is saying has a lot to do with the Universal conflicts that we've learned , Me personally thnik it mostly has to do with man vs.self mostly because they're facing a world full of prejudice people & they're like the only two who believe in something different .

Prompt - What is the theme of Fahrenheit 451?

    The theme of Fahrenheit 451 was elaborate. Its main concept revolved around destroying knowledge and the capacity to think individually. The society in Fahrenheit 451 lacked intelligence. Citizens were manipulated to not be able to think for themselves. In this manner the authority maintained control of its citizens. Montag was the representation of this authority, until he met Clarisse. Clarisse presented a different life that triggered change in Montag's way of thinking. This caused Montag to question his idealism and the society he lived in. With the influence of Clarisse, Montag began to dig deeper to solve why the authority do what they do to ban books. As Montag starts to learn the authorities motive he uncovers the truth and he realized that the authority burned books in order to control the citizen's knowledge. This society wanted to keep everyone the same, but suddenly change is beginning to happen. Montag started to change the course of his society's direction. I believe the theme of Fahrenheit 451 is that knowledge creates freedom.

We believe the theme of the graphic novel is Freedom of thought for all humanity. Clarisse represented life. She had many different oppinions and thoughts that made her DIFFERENT. There is alot of control the government has over people that has made them forget feelings, and what life means. The conflict of the story has elements of man versus society, and man versus self. Showing that Montag is trying to break away from the government, an finally has his own thoughts! Just like Faber said," Books show the pores of life". With freedom comes good and bad things, but that is the beauty in life. Being secluded from all the beauty in life is not always a good thing.

With the introduction of the smart phone and the Internet, people are becoming more self-reliant but increasingly more secluded, isolated.  Do you agree or disagree?  What are the pros?  What are the cons ?

Yes I agree that smart phone and the Internet do take away from the world around them. The good thing about having a smart phone and being on it for awhile is, they can catch up on the latest gossip or be social in a way of texting eachother and when they are bored and dont have a book to read or have anybody to talk to they can have a distraction to pass time. The bad thing about it is, it keeps away of studies, to hang out with friends, and to get exercise really keeps you away of what's going on in the outside world . :)

I think this quote by Faber mean the reason firefighters destroys books because the book tells life in a sometimes scary way . People dont wanna realize how worhty or thougthful books can be. They dont like books because it shows them the qualitys good and bad about the world.

Faber is expressing his take on the idea of literature. He uses a metaphor to compare the human face to the meaning of a book. To Faber quality means texture. Texture from a literal stand point is a surface, something you feel. Which is what Faber is trying to explain, that books being full of feelings, good and bad. Just like the human face because when you look closely their are openings and cracks. In a figurative sense these crevasses have the deeper underlying meaning. Faber believes books became banned because they hold the true meaning of life, which can sometimes be ugly. Instead in this futuristic world they would rather just cover it all up. Which may seem simpler but in the end emotions and feelings cannot be ignored.

I think that the main idea of this statement is that the books show the flaws of life. A quality book shows reality, which is not perfect once so ever. I think that in this futuristic world they are scared of flaws and being different. They try as hard as they can not to feel, and shield people from the true meaning of life. Which is, the beauty of the flaws.

I totally agree! I have / had facebook, myspace, twitter, instagram , etc & i personally haven't became self-reliant , secluded , or isolated . I still depend on my mom . i just have all these social networks because they're interesting , fun , and they keep me updated with my friends, but i have fiends who have let  social networks controll them altHough you're supposed to control them . So yes i agree 100 % .
