The theme is freedom of thought of humanity , mostly because Montag & Faber themselves are trying to find freedom somehow and some type of way , but being Faber and Montag themselves are turning into the MOST hated in " their " world . So they're ( mostly Montag? facing a situation where they're begginnig to wonder how they started wondering , and questioning themselves on " do they go along with evryone else "? or " do they take it upon themselves and go for what they believe in"?
