Prompt: Consider the relationship and conversation
between Clarisse and Montag.  Describe their relationship.  What might Clarisse
symbolize or represent in the narrative?

I think Clarisse and montag have a thoughtful relationship, where they have to make eachother think. Clarisse challenges Montag's way of thinking. She is free spirited, and stops to smell the roses literally and figuritively. Unlike most people in these futuristic times she looks at her surroundings with great detail. I think that Montag also interests Clarisse, because she is always so intrigued when he speaks about the darkest of things. Such as the burning of great literature that he thinks is normal. I think clarisse simbolizes the real meaning of life that Montag doesn't quite understand.

Great response! I believe your totally right that Clarisse challenges his thinking. And that Clarisse is a bit naive about the world they are living in, since she is so deep in her own world. Yet I think Clarisse and Montag will feed and grow off of eachother as the plot and conflict progresses.
